POISON IVY IS A KIND OF REACTION SHOWN TO SAPS OF SOME WILD PLANTS SUCH AS:
RHUS TOXIDENDRON OR TOXIDENDRON RADICANS
POISON SUMAC
SOME DOGWOODS
PRIMROSE,
RHUS DIVERLEBA OR WILD OAK.
THIS REACTION IS DUE TO A CHEMICAL FOUND IN THESE PLANTS,CALLED URUSHIOL.
SIGNS OF POISON IVY APPEARS IN A FEW HOURS OR EVEN DAYS AFTER TOUCH,
AND ARE:
i,ITCHING
v,VERY SWELLING
y,YELLOWISH RASH
ALSO:
REDNESS &BLISTERS
FOR TREATMENT OTC CREAMS WILL HELP.
ALSO:
OATMEAL BATH,BURROW'S SOLUTION,CALAMINE LOTION.
CORTICOSTEROIDS and antihistamines ARE USED FOR MORE SEVERE CASES
